About the role

Senior Finance Analyst, Operations at Commonwealth Fusion Systems in Devens, MA. Hybrid, full-time, paying $134k–$205k. Posted November 4, 2026.

About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:    Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.   Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers, suppliers, and many others to build the energy industry of the future.   We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised $4 billion of capital, making us the largest and leading fusion company in the world.   Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.    If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.

Join the power movement as Senior Finance Analyst, Operations

We're looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to partner directly with our Operations teams, including Facilities, EHS and Supply Chain, owning the forecast, building business cases for new investments, and giving leaders the financial visibility they need to run an efficient, scalable operational network.

This is a business partner role at the center of how we operate. The ideal candidate will bring rigorous forecasting and modeling skills, the ability to turn financial results into practical operational actions, with a deep curiosity about how our sites, suppliers and processes work day to day.

What you'll do:

  • Own the forecast process for the Operations teams (including Facilities, EHS and Supply Chain), driving accuracy and accountability across monthly and quarterly cycles
  • Build annual budgets for Operations cost centers and track actuals against plan, investigating variances and flagging risks and opportunities early
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to build business case models that evaluate new investments, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Translate financial results into operational insights and actions that improve business performance
  • Advise Operations leadership and budget owners on resource allocation, operating efficiencies and investment risk to inform decision-making
  • Help harmonize processes, data governance and reporting across the operational network
  • Support special projects for operational improvement, including system and tool automation that increases efficiency and frees up time for deeper analysis
  • Contribute to executive-level presentations and reporting packages for senior leadership

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field
  • 7 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or operations/supply chain finance
  • Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel, including experience building business cases and investment analyses (NPV, IRR, payback)
  • Ability to communicate clearly with operational stakeholders and translate site, supplier and process data into financial impact
  • Comfort presenting to senior leadership and building clear, concise reporting packages
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with incomplete information in a fast-moving environment

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience supporting a high-growth company.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, facilities or supply chain cost structures (e.g., inventory, freight, capital projects)
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and planning/automation tools (e.g., Oracle EPM, Anaplan, Tableau etc)

Must-have Requirements:

  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
