About the role
Senior TypeScript Backend Engineer at Jobgether in US. Remote, full-time, paying $50–$90/hr. Posted November 3, 2026.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior TypeScript Backend Engineer based in the United States.
Join an engineering team building an advanced agentic workflow-orchestration platform, starting with vulnerability discovery as its first use case. As a Senior TypeScript Backend Engineer, you will contribute hands-on technical expertise to the design and implementation of a scalable, distributed platform. You will work with modern orchestration technologies, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, and containerized services to build reliable and composable workflows. Partnering with experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will help evaluate infrastructure choices and translate architectural designs into production-ready solutions. This role offers the opportunity to influence a developing platform in an environment where priorities evolve and independent technical judgment is essential. It is a fully remote opportunity for a technical leader who enjoys writing code and solving complex backend engineering challenges.
Accountabilities
-
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and platform components using TypeScript.
-
Contribute hands-on as a technical lead, balancing implementation work with technical guidance and engineering decision-making.
-
Build and implement workflows using orchestration engines such as Temporal, Dapr, or AWS Step Functions.
-
Design distributed systems and event-driven architectures using message queues and publish/subscribe technologies such as Kafka.
-
Implement reliable workflow execution patterns, including retries, idempotency, and fault tolerance.
-
Design and develop composable, polyglot workflow steps within the orchestration framework.
-
Evaluate workflow orchestration engines and infrastructure platforms, providing technical recommendations and build-versus-buy assessments.
-
Work with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift to support application deployment, scaling, and networking.
-
Translate architectural design documents into practical implementation plans and production-ready solutions.
-
Contribute to the integration of LLM and AI-agent tool usage into platform workflows as directed.
-
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subject-matter experts to address technical challenges and adapt to changing priorities.
-
Apply sound engineering judgment in an evolving environment where requirements and project scope are still being defined.
-
Demonstrated experience at a technical lead or team lead level in TypeScript development, with the ability to write production code rather than focusing exclusively on architecture reviews or delegation.
-
Direct, hands-on experience building solutions with workflow-orchestration engines such as Temporal, Dapr, or AWS Step Functions.
-
Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
-
Practical experience with message queues and publish/subscribe systems, such as Kafka or comparable technologies.
-
Solid knowledge of reliability patterns, including retries, idempotency, and fault-tolerant processing.
-
Experience with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift, including deployment, scaling, and networking fundamentals.
-
Enterprise architecture experience and the ability to work independently from technical design documents.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make sound technical decisions in fast-moving environments.
-
Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and external technical specialists while adapting to shifting priorities.
-
Experience evaluating infrastructure platforms and making build-versus-buy recommendations.
-
Background in regulated industries or financial services, particularly familiarity with governance requirements and audit-trail considerations.
-
Experience integrating LLMs or AI-agent tool usage into platform workflows.
-
Familiarity with containerized, polyglot workflow architectures.
-
Hourly compensation ranging from $50 to $90 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
-
Full-time engagement.
-
Fully remote position within the United States.
-
Opportunity to work on an innovative agentic workflow-orchestration platform.
-
Exposure to modern technologies, including TypeScript, Temporal, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Kafka, and AI-agent integrations.
-
Opportunity to contribute hands-on to technical architecture and infrastructure decisions.
-
Collaboration with experienced, hands-on engineers and technical specialists.
